Dal is something we Indians are used to eating daily and call it our comfort food..eat it with roti, nan, or rice..tastes great and a great source of daily protein requirement. Though most dals are easy to make and every dal can be made in variety of ways.

Ingredients-
- 1 cup washed Urad dal(split or whole)- whole tastes better
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 th teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Onion - one small
- Red chilli powder
- Ghee/oil for tadka
Method-
For dal-
- Boil the dal with turmeric powder and salt - cook till done, it should not be pasty.
For tadka-
- In a separate pan heat oil and fry onions till golden brown, close the heat and add red chili powder.
