Spinach Lentil Fritters(Moong Dal Palak Vadas)

Tasty, Spicy and delicious moong dal vadas are great for a cold or rainy day with a hot cup of tea!

These moong dal vadas or pakoras are easy to make and taste great with coriander or mint chutney.
Chopped spinach make these fritters even healthier and crispier.

 

Ingredients

  • Moong dal(split green gram)  –  1 cup
  • Onions- 2 small (chopped)
  • Green Peas- 1 tbsp
  • Spinach  – I cup (chopped)
  • Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup (chopped)
  • Crushed fennel seeds – 1tsp
  • Crushed dry coriander seeds – 1 tsp
  • Green chili – 1 chopped
  • Salt – to taste

Instructions-

  • Soak moong dal in water for 4-5 hours
  • Strain and keep it in the strainer for 15 min
  • Grind the dal into semi coarse paste. Whisk it for 2 -3 minutes to make the batter a little lighter.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well
  • Heat oil in a wok over medium flame
  • Drop a pinch of mixture in the oil, if it comes upwards immediately that means the oil is sufficiently hot for deep frying.
  • Take small portions in the hand,  drop  into hot oil and deep fry till golden brown.
  • Serve hot with Coriander chutney.
  • Enjoy!
